Women tech experts find their careers just as rewarding as men, but major image problems are stopping the message getting through to potential recruits

Nine out of ten experienced female technology and IT experts would happily recommend technology as a career choice to another female, and yet three-quarters of women believe technology careers are less attractive to potential female recruits because of concerns about the ‘macho’ nature of technology teams, and a fear of being the sole woman in a male dominated department.

These were the findings of a survey conducted by Mortimer Spinks, the technology recruitment experts, and Computer Weekly, representing the views of 512 experienced technology professionals across the UK, of which 199 were female and 313 were male.
